Tom Hazleton In Concert
Tom Hazleton's exciting and
colorful organ concert Sunday night, March 19, 2000, at The
Love of Christ Korean Presbyterian Church in Bayside, Queens,
NYC, was by all accounts a great success. The church was quite
full and the response of the audience to master organist and
recording star Tom Hazleton and the three artists who participated
was just overwhelming.
Also amazing was the fact
that two artists of completely professional abilities came from
the church, plus a fine guest organist from neighboring Flushing.
Ms. Jane Ahn, the organist of Love of Christ Presbyterian Church,
gave a most exciting performance of the Chorale in A Minor,
the organ masterpiece by Cesar Franck. Mr. Sung Chun Park, the
tenor soloist in the church, performed the beautiful and very
moving Agnus Dei of Bizet. And equally amazing were two organ
improvisations by nineteen-year old John Hong, a scholarship
student in organ at the Juilliard School of Music.
The results of all of this
magnificent talent was an evening that was spiritual, uplifting
and thoroughly delightful. As people heard effects from the
organ that they had possibly never heard before, we all
were reminded why world-renowned Tom Hazleton has made more
organ recordings than any other organist. The program was delightful,
serious and moving. You must hear this man if you have never
heard him before. Check out Tom's schedule under Artist
Links . Don't miss him if you can help it.
